Being able to taste Vodka depends entirely on its quality. You shouldn't be able to taste stuff like Grey Goose or Belvediere. You will always taste Gordon's or Orloff. (Of course it also depends on the drink...you're always going to taste the vodka if you're drinking say...a vodka on the rocks. :B)

Grenadine is a sweet cherry syrup. If you've ever had a Shirley temple, it's the same stuff.
