Nearly all of you know this, but I can't find [livejournal.com profile] shibbyskids and [livejournal.com profile] wolfscythe's phone number anywhere, so let me direct a brief prayer that Jess will actually CHECK her flist for once:

New canon.

JULY 16, 2005.

To follow [livejournal.com profile] thetreacletart's lead: let the predictions roll.

Which of our good guys is going to go next?

My money's always been on Hagrid at some point, with a side bet on Dumbledore.

If she kills Lupin I will lose the will to live.

To quote one of Lyd's commentors: Lupin and Snape dying of anything but old age, together, is completely unacceptable.

WORD.

Hagrid on the other hand: pleaseohpleaseohpleaseohplease.

I suspect there'll be a few Weasleys less too. Arthur'll probably bite the dust at some point. Suspect Ron's life expectancy isn't brilliant either.

And, while I'm not hopeful about this, will we see the possibility of Sirius's return from the Veil? We can but hope.

Hopefully Hagrid or Percy.

I really can't spare anyone else.

[identity profile] killerbeautiful.livejournal.com 2004-12-22 03:53 am (UTC)(link)
wah but percy! i know it's so likely but i could not spare him at all, he is one of my favorites!

[identity profile] kelleypen.livejournal.com 2004-12-21 06:20 pm (UTC)(link)
Hagrid, Percy, okay. Dumbledore at the end of book 7, okay. Sprout, rosmerta-in the great last battle. Fudge, Umbridge--they could have gone yesterday. Hermione's parents? probably will happen. Snape, maybe at the end of book 7, but I'd rather he not. Any other Weasleys, Lupin, OP6--NOpe NOpe NOpe.

[identity profile] jsguardian.livejournal.com 2004-12-21 06:27 pm (UTC)(link)
Order cannon fodder. Emmeline Vance, Sturgis Podmoore, Hestia Jones, etc...

Maybe Mrs Figg. As for the next BIG kill? I'd guess Percy or the twins.

[identity profile] mbmargarita.livejournal.com 2004-12-22 03:47 am (UTC)(link)
Do you think she'd be evil enough to kill one twin and not the other, or do you think they're strictly a package deal? Also, why did you consider Bill and Charlie safe?

[identity profile] zinaya.livejournal.com 2004-12-22 07:47 am (UTC)(link)
I think the dramatic impact would be crazy if she killed one twin but not the other. The thing I keep telling myself is that she would never do that to her younger readers.

Right? Right!? *hugs the twins*

[identity profile] mbmargarita.livejournal.com 2004-12-22 03:52 pm (UTC)(link)
Good point on the younger readers thing... though isn't the idea that readers are supposed to be about whatever age Harry is in each book? So if she's thinking 16 year olds (ahh Harry all grown up!!!) that might not stop her. *Crosses fingers* Even if I'm not a 'younger reader' I think one dead twin would be totally traumatizing.

[identity profile] gryfindormia.livejournal.com 2004-12-21 08:14 pm (UTC)(link)
Oh! What absolute idiots we are! Why don't we call her grandmother (whose number we all have) and ask for that number? Here, I'll do it right now and then call you and leave a message on your cell phone and give you that number.

[identity profile] gryfindormia.livejournal.com 2004-12-21 08:43 pm (UTC)(link)
K, done. Left message on your cell. I have their phone number and their address, if you want that as well. Give me a call when you get off of work.

i thought molly weasley actually, but seeing her boggart in book 5 makes me think otherwise. hagrid dying would not bother me that much, but i always have to examine why i say that and if it's just becuase he's unshippable [in my mind] so killing him off wouldn't be dooming any of my otp's. :) seriously though i think the lesser characters will start dropping off; maybe a recent alum, not someone harry's really close with but perhaps bill charlie or [pleasegodno] percy... if she announces a definite death though i hope we do a fandom-wide bet like before book 5. that was fun, and took the edge off the agony of speculation. :)

[identity profile] sev1970.livejournal.com 2004-12-22 06:01 am (UTC)(link)
I haven't looked on the web to confirm it, but our local news said that JKR said one of her characters will not survive book six...so I am guessing it is true. As long as it's not Snape, I will be somewhat okay.

[identity profile] mafdet.livejournal.com 2004-12-22 03:56 am (UTC)(link)
Here via the Snitch:

Maybe Grawp will die and not take up precious page space. A girl can hope. ;)

[identity profile] mbmargarita.livejournal.com 2004-12-22 03:53 pm (UTC)(link)
Haha tell me about it.

[identity profile] sugarsin.livejournal.com 2004-12-22 04:05 am (UTC)(link)
Lupin and Snape dying of anything but old age, together, is completely unacceptable. :) that made me giggle.

I'm just over here from the Snitch, but I have to agree with this:

If she kills Lupin I will lose the will to live.

I couldn't have said it better.

I can see

Kingsley Shacklebolt going... I mean, he's an Auror on the front lines after all. Tonks would be a surprise, but she's on the front lines too...

[identity profile] goldie-black.livejournal.com 2004-12-22 09:23 pm (UTC)(link)
Next 'big' death... No idea. My 'candidates': Petunia, Mad-Eye, Pettigrew, Lucius Malfoy, Grawp, Fudge, Sirius Black (For real next time because he's alive and in Spinner's End and that's where Harry gets to go to see him, right? Jo??) For book 7: Ron (But I do love that boy.) because that for Harry will be the final straw. Yes?

[identity profile] catwoman25.livejournal.com 2004-12-25 12:06 am (UTC)(link)
Hey there. I'm here from the DS.
Lupin's a total goner. From the minute Wormtail got his silver arm, I knew that wolf was going down.

Also, Dumbledore wont live through these books. At the end of book five, when Dumbledore cries, Harry notices how old he looks. If he doesn't die in book six, he'll die partway through book seven.

I forgot to add: Word on SS/RL. Word.
