Walking on air

So, I'm walking down the hall at church, and I hear, "Hey, you need a date. Just go talk to her." I attend a church for single people...you hear this conversation all the time. *eyeroll*

However, in my experience it is not typically followed by the guy who just said it (who you've never seen before) swinging round at you and saying, "Hey, do you know Rich?" indicating the guy he was just talking to.

I frown a little, puzzled. I look at the guy who's just spoken, and at Rich. "Ummm...I don't think so. Hi, I'm Lu."

"Nice to meet you."

I look more puzzled. "Um, am I supposed to know you?"

"I don't think so."

Slow nod of puzzlement. "Well, okay. It was nice to meet you, but...I've got to get home."

On the way out, however, I start putting the pieces together. He was too shy to say hello, so his friend...


Oh, yeah. I've had my ego-boost for today.
