My assistant director is driving me mad. I am coming in early this week as a favor to her. She is the one who would have to take my kids in the mornings if I didn't. Could she just stop it??
I'm trying to allow for the fact that she is stressed, too. I've refused to let myself get worked up over the something like nine times that she has corrected a mistake I've made with less tact than was really pretty necessary to avoid giving offense.
We're one teacher short, and today we were three kids over the two-teacher maximum ratio for the school-agers. It's a huge problem for everybody, bumping kids, etc.
But, dammit, I'm stressed, too. I've never done lesson plans before, I'm not used to having the most stressful class in the school for more than five hours at a stretch--she is NOT HELPING. And her job, since she is management, is to HELP.
And now she's gone beyond the line where she merely skips being tactful in her instructions, and insulted my competence.
Okay, so Josh threw a temper tantrum. The worst tantrum I've ever seen him throw. Well, his grandmother woke him out of his nap (and he must have been tired, he never goes to sleep that early) to take him to get a shot. Of course he's cranky.
Joni called him to her in the office while I was trying to calm him down and gave him candy as a bribe. Number one rule of childcare? DO NOT REWARD BAD BEHAVIOUR. What the hell?
And then she comes to me and says, "Look, if you're having a hard time with Josh, please give him to any of the other teachers. I'm sure they can handle him."
EXCUSE ME????????
I handle Josh better than any other teacher there. This is fact. No one else can get him to sleep without at least one histrionic production. He obeys me FAR more often than he obeys anyone else. I am also the only one he is at all fond of. I have more control over him than anybody else. Where the HELL did this even the people who only see him half an hour a day could handle him better than you, you're so incompetent patronising attitude come from?
Okay. *sigh* Now I feel better. But I'm going to go pretend to be a beautiful woman engaged to a rich man for awhile, k?

"Interesting lady... Can we kill her?"
