I send all my flist, especially, but also all the victims and their families my best wishes and heartfelt prayers.

Let me repeat a plea...if you're on my flist and you're okay, please post briefly that you are. I know there's a community for it, but I'd like to monitor you myself. And if any of you know someone in our fandom who was hurt, please let us know so that we can pray for them and do whatever we can to help.

God, what a way to wake up.

*hugs the world, crying softly*

*waves* I'm OK, unhurt, all my family and friends are OK to my knowledge, and was never in any danger personally. Please don't worry, I'm OK and London will be fine too.

We survived the Nazis, the IRA and the Daleks. We'll get through this.

Who are the Daleks (and all those other weird things they mentioned on meta?)

Something British I know that Allison doesnt? What?

The Daleks were baddies on a very old, still-ongoing (wait, is it still ongoing?) British show from the sixties, "Dr. Who". I watched it as a kid all the time in Saudi.

Still ongoing! Did you not hear about the new series that aired this year? And the series planned for 2006?

The most recent series had lots of Daleks. :)

Well, most of the weird names you didn't recognise were tongue-in-cheek references to Dr. Who villains. ;)

And the Daleks are the most well-known (and oddly loved) villains of them all. Rather like upturned trash cans of death with deathray sink plunger and kitchen utensils on the front, screaming "EXTERMINATE!!!" in loud robotic voices. (I think they're rather sweet myself, but don't tell them that.)

And the Daleks are very definitely part of Britain's cultural landscape - everyone recognises the Daleks. May also explain British unflappability in the younger generations - if you grew up watching the likes of those on your TV every Saturday, everything else pales in comparison.

I know you will. Tough little country. *pats England on the head patronisingly, winks*

I'm so glad you're all right, though, Jenna.

Stop it. :)

Yeah, I was never in any danger myself. I was lucky.

Amelia. Salt Lake City, UT. Morning very pretty, apart from the dead elk in the street, obviously killed by a cougar. Knee hurts, can you give it a massage?
