QUESTION FOR ALL BRITPICKERS:

What do you call a sweater vest in Britain?

Ady says she's fairly sure it's not a jumper waistcoat. *g*

I have no idea what a sweater vest is! Um, picture anywhere?

OK, those I've only ever heard called 'tank tops', which is very 70's and scary to someone who remembers everyone wearing them (and I do *shudder*). Since there are a lot of things that seem to be called tank tops these days, you might get away with 'sleeveless jumper', which would definitely imply that it was that knitted type rather than a more fashionable modern version. Also specifying 'knitted tank top' would do the same.

How about 'slipover'? That comes up on a lot of UK clothing sites.

That would be as mystifying to me as 'sweater vest'. I dunno, maybe they are trying to find something to call it that has less 'oh god, 1970's Dad-wear' connotations. I couldn't blame them.

Tank tops.

But sleeveless jumper or sleeveless pullover might work
