(because Jensen Ackles is, indeed, that pretty, and I am told he shows up eventually)
Part One:
1) Rural Kansas has easily-tampered-with electrical systems
2) The meteorite can tell what people's names are and is fond of IRONY (hello, Cassandra)
3) Tom Welling is not as bad in the first season as I feared from rumour, but his character is boring and full of teen emo.
4) However, you can still ship Clark with Lana because she is just as bad
5) Keeping a secret in a small town is a lot easier than books try to tell you
6) Dude, Lex is totally the best thing about this show
Further note: Clark's mom totally wins.

The show can be really really good and it can be really really BAD (oh so bad) and yet I can't stop watching.

Date: 2007-04-18 02:56 am (UTC)Never mind about spoilers, I've *glances guiltily around* been reading RPF for a while...I can't help it! The Jared/Jensen is irresistible and half the time the other stuff is just part and parcel. That was actually what finally tipped the balance, so many people were talking about their acting dynamic that I decided it was worth checking out. But yeah, I know Lana dies, boohoo, and some other minor stuff, and I'm not somebody who minds 'em anyway...but I appreciate you asking, it's a courtesy not everybody bothers with.

Date: 2007-04-18 03:12 am (UTC)Alas, so far she hasn't died - I WISH SHE WOULD. I think the problem is that the writers have her on their own little pedestal (sp?) and as such don't really get that they're not being realistic. But then I also don't think they really know HOW to write realistic female characters. I adore Chloe and there are times when I cringe because she does things that just strike me as 'lazy writers don't quite know what to do with her' actions. Heh.
*ahem* I kinda hate her if you hadn't noticed. LOL
I agree about Lex wanting Clark ... *grins* I always shipped Clois and so I never quite got what people were talking about regarding Clex until I started watching. The way they look at each other does make my slasher heart happy. :D Even now in later seasons when they are supposed to hate each other - you know they s00per sekritly want each other. :D
Michael Rosenbaum really is the best thing about the show. He has a certain something ... like I don't really find him sexy but at the same time ... I sort of DO. I can't explain it.
*ahem* I'll shut up now. LOL

Date: 2007-04-18 04:08 am (UTC)That's what lead me to the idea that they've created this idealised vision of how they think Lana is without realizing that she's NOT coming across that way. SInce I've gotten into the show I've come to wonder if a part of why I stick with it is because I actually kind of enjoy (in a weird way) wondering just how much they will throw at us regarding her and expect us to buy it.
Having said all of that I know that some of it isn't all the writers or the creators fault either. Both WB and DC Comics have placed certain restrictions of what they can and can not portray on the show. For example in Season Four Lois shows up but they have a list of things they're not allowed to show Lois doing. I'm not quite sure why - I read somewhere it had to do with they didn't want to conflict with various comics and the release of Superman Returns ... but considering the whole show is a big AU and Lois never showed up when Clark was in highschool in any other version I sort of wonder whats up with that? I mean does DC Comics not realize that most people are smart enough to realize it's an AU?
