P. S. It appears to be possible that finding a counsellor for my stress problems is a major cause of stress problems. Freaking Catch-22.

Are you a college student? Ours has a counseling service. It's free and the chick is good.

Next semester, we're getting our god-daughter enrolled in at least a 1 hr/week PE class so she can get free counseling.

Oh, smart!

I'm in community college, and the counsellors...mean well. *g* They're nice, but they barely manage to advise me on my scheduling (more than half of them have trouble understanding me, and I them, and I don't speak Spanish), and I wouldn't trust them beyond that.

Yeah, we're pretty good at gaming the system like that.

I'm in a community college too, here north of Dallas. It's different people who do the counseling and the academic advising. It's weird that it would be the same people. I don't see how they'd be qualified for both (and cheap enough per hr to use for the scheduling thing).

I can understand being reluctant to trust an academic advisor with your mental health though. Yikes.

It's...weird. I don't know exactly how it works, but I do know student health is shamefully underfunded...It may be we simply don't have any counselors and the academic people are doing the best they can.
