ME (this is not paraphrasing; this is a direct quote): No. Just. No. I'm not talking about it.

MY SISTER: Oh. Huh.

ME: Sorry to be so abrupt, but just...I don't intend to discuss it. It was bad enough going through it, I'm not gonna talk about it.

MY SISTER: Oh. Well, this is what I thought blahblahblah and then blahblahblah but there's always blahblahblah to consider...

ME: ...


You guys, if I said I didn't want to talk about it, would have just not tried to make me talk about it, right? Right?

OMG. She's always LIKE THIS, okay, I hate talking about family stuff with her in general, and the subtle cues are all there when it comes to that stuff...I hate it when she talks shit about my mother (we have different mothers, sort of) and I hate it when she puts me in the middle and I hate in general talking about family stuff except with my shrink, which is one of the very big reasons I need one...but in general I put out subtle cues and when she ignores them I let her, because...she's family and I have to forgive her, you know?

But this was just...it was not on the fucking table, in any way, shape, or form, and I said it! Straight out! And she ignored me, I blew up at her for ignoring me, and then she got all hurt that I would snap at her and jeez.

Gah. Sorry. Apparently having someone who can sympathize made me vent. *sorry face*

Maybe your sister needs a therapist, too? Or friends that she can talk to and are not you? Or a nice pet statue that can sit there and somberly listen to her observations without the urge to shake her like a terrier with something small and furrily annoying. Yeah, that sounds about right.

You can sculpt her a nice self-portrait, and it will be both a sister-decoy and art therapy. AT THE SAME TIME!
