I don't know whether this happens to the rest of the world, but I have recurring dreams. They don't return night after night, or anything like that, but they come every three or four years, and they're usually long, plotty dreams with a mystery to solve. (I don't know, okay, my subconscious is a weird place.)

There's two or three of them that come along and replay themselves in my head every once in a while, and I've gotten so that, in my head, I recognise the plot and can navigate it more quickly to the end because I remember the solution to the mystery.

I added a new one to the list tonight--it's the first time it's recurred--and it was, "Oh, it's the one with the murdered clowns again." (I'm not killing them, fyi, just have to find out who is, but still. THE ONE WITH THE MURDERED CLOWNS.)

Hi, subconscious, what is the MATTER with you???

P.S. However, still not as disturbing as the Singer hitting on me dream. Possibly that is sad.

LOL, wrong fandom. *G* Bobby hitting on me I wouldn't find disturbing at ALL. No, this is a tiny nineteen year old baby with hair past his shoulderblades who sings lead for a band. Three-fifths of his band are named Alex, so they call him Singer to distinguish him. *G*

I usually don't remember more than a few random images, but I've had a few recurring dreams or at least dream snippets.

(And in re sad: I once dreamed about Elvis hitting on me. Sad and necrophilic. At least it was hot!Elvis...)

I definitely have recurring dreams, but never remember the details; most of my dreams are long and plotty. I just remember that while I was in the dream, I recognized the places/events/etc. It's sort of like third-hand deja vu ;) I had more in high school, for some reason.

I distinctly remember a recurring dream I had when I lived in San Diego from when I was 3 to 10 years old. It was the same every time. I would wake up to my family yelling and screaming in panic. All I could get from their incoherent babble was that “something’s out there.”

My living room had a huge window to the street outside. I run to it and see a giant koala bear. It was actually the father koala bear from one of the cartoons I watched faithfully at the time.

I run outside to see if there was anything I could do about it since everyone else was too afraid to set foot outside. As soon as I did the koala bear turned into a giant hamburger helper glove coming down our driveway (we had a huge driveway that used to be a street).

I hear someone call my name. I see a huge bottle of ranch dressing with my dad’s face on the label. He pleads for me to get him out.

That is the basic dream and, yes, this is how my dreams usually are: entirely random. This was one of the recurring ones I had and pretty much the only one that I remember really well.

I used to have one with the Joker sitting on a rocking horse in a dark, empty, Victorian-style nursery.

It was very creepy. (watch, now I'll dream about THAT tonight...)

Lately it has been that I have dreams in the same world. I can sit there and think "Oh, I have been here before, and this is where this will be." It is very weird.
