Hotsheet.

So apparently I have to change my fic e-mail address.

Now, on the one side, that's good, because it could have been one of the other addresses which PEOPLE have whereas just computers with form systems have that one.

On the other side, a LOT of sites have that e-mail address and I have to change them ALL.

And there's no real explanation. None. They sent me five e-mails, each with another totally untrue explanation.

I just got the same kind of message as TTT and it had a virus. You need to run a virus scan, and I would recommend switching to Yahoo because they automatically scan all attachments.

Did it say something like this (obvious form letter):

Subject: E-mail account disabling warning.

Dear user of Yahoo.com,

Our antivirus software has detected a large ammount of viruses
outgoing
from your email account, you may use our free anti-virus tool to
clean up
your computer software.

For further details see the attach.

Kind regards,
The Yahoo.com team

The virus attached was: Virus "W32.Beagle.J@mm"

Save your important stuff on clean disks, and DON'T upload anything to CM until you've done a virus scan. I have no idea how those things can spread, but better safe than sorry.

No, it was different. Well, I got one like that, but I also got four others. *sigh* At least that isn't the one I downloaded.

I got another one that said the main server would be down for two days and I would have to download the attached software. That one had a virus, too. :/

It looks like people in the fandom are being targeted because none of my friends that aren't in the fandom have gotten anything. And come to think of it, only those at CM so far...

But...CM doesn't have that address. Sugarquill does...did, I mean...but CM had my eahallulats, where I've not got anything yet.

Oh, bother. Someone with an vendetta against the fandom?

It might be the fandom; as I said, Sugarquill has that address.

You guys? This virus spawns itself into your address books. So if you have a lot of friends in teh fandom, that's why it looks like a target. No one is targeting the fandom.

If your address contains @hotmail or @msn or @miscrsoft, the virus is told NOT to spawn. So people with those won't get it.
