Apr. 13th, 2004 09:56 pmI would very much like to be shot by a...never mind. I haven't told the rest of the joke.
Nonetheless, like the man of ninety, I would like to die.
I have a monumental paper due tomorrow, as well as a half-written fic for the thon.
And I cannot focus on ANYTHING beyond the fact that the fires of Mount Doom are burning in the back of my throat and I cannot swallow. Anything. Cough drops, hot smooth, cold smooth...and let's not even get INTO anything with texture.
The self-performed tonsilitis wish is turning into a slitting-my-own throat wish. Dibbler, may I join your enterprise? I'm all up for selling genuine pig.

Date: 2004-04-13 10:11 pm (UTC)Have you tried freezer pops, pudding pops, popsicles...you know, frozen things? I'd avoid fruity frozen pops because the flavorings may irritate your throat, but when I had mono umpteen years ago the ONLY thing I could get past my swollen, inflamed throat was a vanilla pudding pop, and the coldness helped numb the soreness a bit.
Well, whatever you do, I hope you get better soon.

Date: 2004-04-13 10:16 pm (UTC)'Cuz if you don't, I and my 6'2" hairy ape of a brother-in-law (an operating room nurse) will drop everything (except for his handy, dandy Big Bag O' Medical Tools) for a road trip to "help you out".
You would think that, given my advbanced age, that I would have learned a few more comforting skills along the way. Scare tactics just don't seem to do the trick. :(
Seriously, Lu - take care! Better to hunt up a doctor today than visit the emergency room tomorrow.
