Sep. 13th, 2004 07:23 pmThe freaXing (I think spelling it like a teeny-bopping chatspeak freak of nature makes it a dirtier word, all by itself) web is out at my place and nobody who knows enough is doing anything about it. It was out all Sunday so I didn't (and probably still can't, for a while) get to the revamped JD *weeps* (TC YOU WERE NOT RIGHT I COULDA READ IT AND NOW I CAN'T) or to my flists or to my e-mail or ANYTHING.
I spent Saturday with my sister and Kimi. Kimi is an angel to do that for me.
Jenny and I applied for financing for a townhouse...actually the payments would be less than rent on a two-bedroom, one-bath, one kitchen-sitting-thingy apartment, and it would come with three beds, two and a half baths, kitchen, breakfast nook, and sitting room. And if we could find someone we trust to share the house we would have even less rent because, three people! The only obstacle being that she has lousy credit and I have none at all. But they did call me back today so it sounds hopeful.
Started work and, oc, the head teacher in my room is a *itch but I'll mostly be on my own, apparently, so that's good. The kids are adorable.
In church nursery, we now have a two-year-old who doesn't understand a word of English. Only Norwegian. (!!!)
Question: what does it say about me, psychologically, that (I realised this weekend) I am always attracted to the sidekicks and best friends in movies/books rather than the heroes?
Example: the incredibly frightening Cinderella Story that I was forced to take my baby sister to. I was so all for the sweet best friend (aside from the whole costuming thing). Of course, he had the only decent line in the whole dinged movie, so maybe that was why.
Further example: Every time I see an old romantic comedy with Gig Young, I want HIS character despite the fact that he is playing the best friend of Cary Grant, who is indubitably much better looking. (I realised this watching Teacher's Pet and That Touch of Mink this past weekend.)
Ron or Harry? Ron.
Prince Jonathon or George? Oh GIVE ME George.
Garion or any of his male friends? Silk.
I do still prefer Darcy to Bingley, though. If I didn't I would be really worried.

Date: 2004-09-13 09:00 pm (UTC)Awww, so sad about the internet access thing. I'll admit embarrassedly that I was wondering why you hadn't said anything... But I promise it will still be there when you get to it. Honest. :crosses heart:

Date: 2004-09-13 10:09 pm (UTC)That's because Bingley's a boring sap.
Don't worry about your revelation re: sidekicks - I just realised I'm interminably attracted to gay men, in celebrity-crush-type attractions. Jeez. I'm officially the wrong sex, but then again, perhaps their gayness is the most attractive thing? *thinks* Nope, it's just a bonus. *sigh*
*is in top ten* WHEE!
How freaXy is this icon? *shivers*

Date: 2004-09-13 11:08 pm (UTC)And yeah, I tend to be more fond of sidekicks too. Frodo and Sam? Soooooo going with Sam. He's cute, he's loyal, he's affectionate, he knows how to garden and cook, and he's not as likely to wake you up in the middle of the night with loud angsting over the One Ring.

Date: 2004-09-14 02:59 am (UTC)Garion though - adore Garion.
And it's not just Gig Young - I always adore Tony Randall instead of Rock Hudson, too.

Date: 2004-09-14 08:09 am (UTC)Oooo, yes, Tony Randall is FAR prefereable to Hudson.
