Okay, so:

I went to work, and Debbie (boss) was incredibly grateful and also let me go into the lowest-stress room because I felt horrible, which was nice of her. Also she finally increased my hours so that when I move out I won't have to starve. But the new kid would not stop dancing on the Lego table and I nearly completely lost it so I was glad to leave.

I walked for half an hour, which is better than no exercise at all and actually did make me feel better. Then I was very cheered up by many things: Tomorrow I will get the climax of the RL/SS storyline in the Leaky (SQUEEEEEE!!!!), the new Terry Pratchett and the new Tamora Pierce are both waiting for me a B&N, and SR has been updated. (ACK!!!!)

Speaking of which...

Now I have a new author to call a horrible person because CLIFFHANGER AND DEANNA!!! But I did so adore Caitlin flirting without even talking to Sev, and his thought process while that went on. And I love Oliver crushing on Cait, and the twins being completely unembarrassed, and RIANNE. *grovels at JLM's feet again*

Which of the Tamora Pierce are you reading? How good are they?

I stumbled across her speaking, last fall, and stayed to listen because I really enjoyed it. I bought a couple of her books, but haven't tried them yet.

Once of the reasons I liked her was that she admits to writing fanfiction. Another is that she had a lot to say on the process of writing, and it was just so interesing.

She is very good. I'd recommend starting with the Circle of Magic books and then, if you like her style, trying the others. The major problem with recommending her is that in order for her best works to make sense, you have to read her earliest work which is not especially good.

The Circle of Magic is the best way to start because she didn't write it until she was more experienced and...well, basically, better...but it's also set in a different universe so you don't have to read her first published quartet.

I make no bones about starting people with Protector of the Small and saying they can go back and learn about the other characters if they want to. So far it's worked. But Circle of Magic is a good place to start.
