  • Item: Friendiest is student-teaching sixth and seventh grade home ec; they are doing a unit on childcare and she asked me to be a guest lecturer. I did one this morning and am going back for the afternoon. I do not know how she does it. It's creepy the way they all, like, actually listen to you! And raise their hands politely and stuff! Most disconcerting thing EVER!!

They really liked the fingerpainting, though; and I adore how much fun it was to get them to admit they were into "The Little Old Lady Who Wasn't Afraid of Anything."

This afternoon, I will do better! I will not ramble so much and also, I will remember to tell them the number one thing I want them to know. *facepalm*

  • Item: Somebody ran over a squirrel in the middle of my street. Its body is squashed flat but its tail is still standing straight up like a little pine tree. It is the saddest thing ever.

  • Item: I think Starbucks is cheating me out of my flavoring. Aside from that, though, I love how competent the baristas here are; they listen to me! And know what they are doing! It's AWESOME!!!

  • Item: I hate the HOME inventory. That is all.

  • Item: all you out there complaining that your stories are too long, I have a big old raspberry for you. But it's an affectionate one! I'm excited for your stories, it's just that my stories have size envy.

Hiiii I'm tired but I like you. Does that count as a good comment? Also am I allowed to complain, not that my big bang is too long, but that it is too crappy?

It is not too crappy! I promise.

Are you still, like, revising etc, or are you ready for a beta? I mean, this weekend I am going to DIE of exams and papers, but after Tuesday I'm clear for a while, so I could. But if you are not ready, that is completely okay too!

If you wanted to have at it some time early next week, that would be about perfect. Thanks bb! ♥

It's SO SAD.

My number one thing was "respect them," which I wrote on the board but did not talk about. At all. Because free-form lecturing is dangerous. I got it in for the second time around, though!

If you want more of a flavoring that's already in your drink (ie more vanilla in a vanilla latte), you can just ask them to put extra pumps in it, and there's no charge for that. If you tell me what your drink is and how you want it different, I can translate it into barista-speak for you if you like. And I'm glad your baristas make you happy. Yay!

I think I just need to ask for more pumps, really...I'm glad to pay for them! I'm trying to find a new flavour combination because our place up here doesn't carry almond, and it's a slow process to perfection.

I drink plain steamed milk with flavoring; I can't stand the taste of coffee. One of the reasons I adore my crew here is because they can understand that concept. Without having to go through the drive-thru three times. It's awesome.

My favorite steamer (officialy it's called a syrup creme, but most people call them steamers so I just roll with it) is white mocha with a little bit of hazelnut. Super delish.

My FAVORITE favorite is pumpkin spice with caramel, but most of the year I go with raspberry and almond. ^_^

Seriously, discontinuing almond was one of the saddest things Starbucks ever did.

Oh, they discontinued it? DAMN. I was hoping it was just that my little backwater college town didn't stock it.

They got rid of it completely! It's terrible. My absolute favorite drink used to be an almond americano, and now? Toffee nut is okay, but it's just not almond, man.

Um? They discontinued almond syrup? That seems weird, I mean, isn't almond a staple flavor? It's hardly exotic. It seems like that would be akin to getting rid of raspberry or caramel. Not that I know anything about Starbucks syrup, seeing as the nearest one is a forty minute drive from my house, but it does seem bizarre.

I KNEW I LIKED YOU. That is the most A++ combination EVER.

(you will feel my pain at the fact they STOPPED SENDING PUMPKIN SPICE DOWNUNDER even FOR winter, right? WOE AND MISERY.)

When I slung coffee, I was the only person who worked there with a non-functional gaydar. Probably some barista magic or secret ninja training that I never received or something. BUT! If you befriend a barista, he/she/it/they can do you helpful favors like confirming your suspicions of whether or not that girl you come in with next time is into you.

This happened TWICE while I worked at Gloria Jean's. HILARIOUS!

Awww, you! That is MOST awesome. How are you so cool?!

And oh no about the squirrel, but YAY baristas being awesome.

(To be totally honest, I am so much more worried about our plot not working/making sense than anything else. You have such a good handle, it seems like, on both your plot and your characters, I can't wait to read yours properly when you're done. <3)

THANK YOU! for doing that. It was FAR better than what I would have done. The finger painting was awesome. I'm so using that in the future!
