There is the whole rest of my fabulous trip to report on, including Greta (GRETA!) and arranging to marry [livejournal.com profile] queenitsy, but I am terribly sick (hey, Rachel, Becky? Apparently IT WAS NOT THE CAT) and want to do nothing but drink codeine and sleep.

I have also my entire life to unpack into my parents' house (bleh) for the summer, but all the big strong men who are supposed to help me haul things are also sick, so right now there is a horse trailer in my driveway and I get to rest and feel better. *sleepy smile*

I WILL BE A REAL PERSON AGAIN SOON, I PROMISE.

(P.S. Shane, I love you. Please take pictures of Brendon forever. Yrs, Lu)

(P. P. S. Rachel, CNN was in the background at the doctor's office and I heard "Miss America contest" and immediately thought JOHNNY WEIR. You are evil and I love you.)
Booked a flight for New York City! I will be there May 5th through the morning of the tenth.

Who wants to come hang out with me? I am planning on Gold Motel at LEAST the 6th, to hang out with [livejournal.com profile] marksykins (who said she would try to keep me from making a fool of myself) and hopefully the 5th, if there is anyone I can talk into going with me?

Anyone? Bueller? You don't have to promise to stop me from acting like an idiot if you don't want to. I mean, I don't think I will do anything TOO huge to embarrass you, and you are welcome to act like you have never seen me before in your life if I do. I won't mind.

Friday through Sunday I am currently free as a bird, so...is there anyone who wants to book my time? I am trying to work out when I can tell RL bestie she can have me...although she is a lovely person and you will all like her, I want to give her a space in which she can plan for things we will do together. ^_^ Especially since it will be HER BIRTHDAY, omg when did we get so old?

(Ex?) bandom people like Rachel and co., I hope to see you all! Maybe even A&K for old times'/tourist sake, if you don't mind? If you would rather not, camping out on someone's couch and converting me to Johnny Weir is MORE than okay, too. (Look, Rachel is writing in it. Rachel could make me want to convert to something with tons of death and drugdealing if she wanted to, because she would make me see the woobie side of the characters.)

I really am never sure who else is IN New York, so sing out! Are you there? Would you like to meet me? I promise I am just as weird in person. Coffee as a low-key, you're-really-only-committing-to-ten-minutes-and-can-then-run-away scenario is perfectly acceptable. ^_^
I totally get what people are talking about with the post-show adrenaline thing now. I'm euphoric and jittering and I feel like I could climb a mountain or proclaim my love to the world.

And I wasn't even performing.

Y'all, Brendon was in such a good mood. He was just glowing and bouncing all over the damn stage. I kept trying to pay attention to the others, too, but he just sucked up all my energy tonight and fed it back into me like an IV of pure joy.

The pictures they put on the screen in the background are really beautifully chosen, but again? Mostly, I was watching Brendon. Boy was on fire.

Also, the sexiness of Spencer drumming is hardly affected at all by his mustache. I totally still wanted to be thrown over the kick drum and ravished.

Ryan continues to be less British, which pleases me immensely, and the side-view screens caught a shot of Jon playing up to Spencer with an expression of bliss.

(Between what Zack said, not all of which will make it into this journal, and the reaction of the crowd, I think the boys are having a little trouble this tour--people aren't as excited to see them, they can't sing back (srsly, mostly? people sang 9itA, Day Met the Night and songs off Fever), and sometimes they LEAVE after Dashboard Confessional. Zack delayed the meet 'n' greet to round up extra fans, beyond those who'd actually won the drawing. The boys sang more Fever songs than I've seen them perform, and cut out such crowd classics as "waves of wooden legs", presumably because they knew nobody would know them...I swear, on Mad as Rabbits, I was one of maybe three people singing along. People mostly just stood there and stared during songs like "She's a Handsome Woman," where nobody knows what Ryan thinks he is talking about. There were people in the merch line who didn't know the "Reinvent Love" merch design was for Panic!

So, you know. When you go? Be REALLY LOUDLY FANGIRLY.)

OH! ETA: The Cab? Hardly failed AT ALL last night. Even Singer. Even Cash. I was kinda disappointed, I promised the baby bro he would find them hilarious. However, I kinda hope they do get big, because when Dashboard pulled Ian up to play with them he kept doing the signature Cab Bounce, and I think he may have been irreparably damaged so that he can't help it anymore.
THINGS ABOUT M&G BEFORE I FORGET:

--Spencer says his mustache is because Zack is growing his beard in, so Spence decided to shave his off. Balance. Personally I still think this is a cover for the bet he lost, and you will not convince me otherwise

--relatedly, in giving the DBC speech, Zack stopped and corrected himself--wait, Spencer doesn't have a beard anymore, he has a "wierd little mustache thing"--my sentiments exactly, Zack.

--however, I will say it's not as bad in person and when he's had enough sleep so he can look out through his eyelids

--Bden's applebottom is round and firm and tight. Zack promises. (!!!!!!!!) (ot3 of shame ftw)

--Zack was two cookies in before he realised they were full of hair

--There IS a don't be creepy reason for only using their sharpies; Zack didn't elaborate and frankly I'm not sure I wanted him to; urgh

-- the new keyboardist is Adrian and he uses the phrase "broke my face"

-- I spoke sensible English and remembered to ask Spencer about the shave and give Brendon his card; I forgot to tell Ryan I like the blog, tell anybody I'm excited for the new album, or look semi-sane in the picture. But I didn't tell Spencer his mustache makes me sad, so on the whole I think I win

--Zack wouldn't let me film, sorry!

--we need a bandom version of fiddlesticks; I spent most of our ridiculously long wait with an awesome girl my own age who clearly knew ALL about them, but I couldn't quite make myself ask her if she has an OTP

--this tour is very BADLY organized and Zack said so; watch out, y'all, I predict his mood will only grow worse the more he has to deal with it (he was awesome once we were past all the enormous problems caused by the venue etc, but MAN he was pissy up to then)
Hey, guess what, y'all: a bright spot in all this misery!

I've won an Oscar!

Cut for image )

It's only one out of several categories, but some of the categories were pretty far-fetched, and this is the category I cared about, so I'm really happy.

THANK YOU SO MUCH TO EVERYONE WHO TOOK THE TIME TO VOTE FOR ME. YOU ALL ARE SO AWESOME!!

ETA:

Also OMG I GOT TO HEAR PANIC LIVE THIS MORNING! VOICEMALS FROM AUSTRALIA FOR THE WIN! Oh, [livejournal.com profile] shihadchick, you made me smile so much, you have no idea.
Things that are awesome about Panic SO FAR:

--[livejournal.com profile] shihadchick

--Zack spotted me in line, asked about my shirt, and got me into the meet-n-greet!! Bden (who Zack referred to as Bden, god), Ryan, and Jon all loved my shirt. Brendon went so far as to call it "rad", which made me grin. (Rad, Brendon, really?) Spencer did not comment, but did look me in the eyes, which, uh, pretty much stopped my heart all on its own. (I love Brendon best, but we all know who I would make out with given the offer.) Probably just as well he didn't try to speak to me.

--they are all adorable. Spencer kept giving a thumbs-up, which I will never not find hilarious. On the way out, Jon jumped on a security guy's back, and Ryan tried to jump on Jon's. Oh, boys. Brendon kept flipping his sharpie in the air and catching it like a kindergarten kid forced to sit still. Oh, Bden, I heart you.

--Zack's don't be creepy speech is very awesome. Whatever they pay him, it isn't enough.

--Thanks to getting in early, we also have an awesome spot to watch from.

Music starts soon!
Awesomest. Dream. Ever.

I went to see Panic in concert and for some reason the venue was half the size of the tiniest college theatre I have ever seen (obviously, in real life Ryan would never agree to such a venue, the stage was practically the size of a postage stamp, but whatever) and for their last number they came and sat in the audience (mercifully both sparse and mostly adult sprinkled with very polite teenagers) and--get this--did a cover of 'As Long As You Love Me' by--whichever the hell pop group sings it. You have not lived until Spencer Smith has pointed at you and sung "where you're fruh-um", even if it did all take place in my subconscious.

Even better, while they were signing things for me, just before I woke up, I realised I was dreaming and got to reach over and ruffle Brendon's hair and tell Spencer that nobody else is going to make first move, so if he wants GSF, it'll have to be him, which was awesome--both Ryan and Brendon clearly knew what I was talking about and immediately gave him the most wistful, expectant looks ever. (Jon mostly looked confused. Why is it that in my head Jon spends the least amount of time reading slash about his band on the internet out of all of them?)

I love my subconscious sometimes. *happy sigh*
So tonight I went to my first rock concert.

I know, I know, baby all grown up.

Completely wiped atm--it's TWO-THIRTY, after all--so no narrative. Besides, I promised I would tell [livejournal.com profile] shibbyskids about it first--but guys.

GUYS.

No matter what fandom, fangirls are the same everywhere.

And that means you can show up with no clue what is going on, and they will be awesome to you.

I have had further proof of this tonight, and for that--and [livejournal.com profile] cracknanny, [livejournal.com profile] monkeycrackmary, [livejournal.com profile] miss_saigon, [livejournal.com profile] ficbyzee, and...the attendee whose handle I do not know, sorry about that--I am so, so incredibly grateful.

Being part of fandom is so awesome, y'all.
